Refresh your Addictive Drums MIDI library.Don't forget to put the MIDI files in there too! Save your keymap and copy it into a folder with the same name (minus the extension).Create a ‘keymap’ matching the file’s MIDI mapping scheme (open the Map Window to access the keymap section). To do this, you only need to do three things: The PowerMap Engine engine allows you to use MIDI files with different mappings alongside your standard AD files.

I dunno I still like SD and pull it out every now and then, but usually that's just for interface and what I was use to. As well as Max Martin.Benny Blanco used AD with Dr.Luke on some of those charted Kate Perry songs and Kei$ha stuff. Neither of the other two are equal sonically-they're aimed at quick demos.Ī lot of big producers and a lot of the pop music in the top ten have used AD. The bad news for people who have bfd2 or SD2 is that they NAIL the sound of acoustic kits in wonderful rooms. Even NI's ARD, while the randomization of the snare hits are nice, I found nothing else redeeming about it. Those are both drum machines, ultimately.different audience. Horses for courses, they're all great programs and, with some careful tweaking you can make great sounding drum tracks using any of them.īfd2 falling behind AD and NI? Agree to disagree. My ideal would be the kit handling of AD with the Processing & mixing from Studio Drummer & the sounds form Superior. The downside of superior is that building kits using sounds from different libraries is a total ball ache.

The room is medium to large & works great if you want a larger sound (esp for rock), but the drawback is that it permeates the OHs & so it's hard to get dry sound.įor my money Superior is the best all rounder (if you include external libraries) as it can do the dry thing & the big rock thing too plus there are character sounds (like C&V etc). Studio drummer is also great - I prefer the mixing interface & think the plugs are better sounding & better featured (although lack metering).
The only negative for me is that the rooms are a bit harsh & also very much on the smaller side. That said if you start from scratch there is a very useable collection of samples there with a remarkably small footprint. I dont use MIDI grooves, so the handling of that is not an issue for me.įirstly for me the AD presets are waaaay too compresed, bright, splatty & harsh so I find them cool & exciting in isolation but largely unusable in a mix.
